Miradouro sobranceiro à Ponta do Sol

O MIRADOURO SOBRANCEIRO À PONTA DO SOL foi construído recentemente e proporciona uma boa perspectiva do vale da Ponta do Sol. Neste miradouro existe também um fontanário. Diz-se que o nome, Ponta do Sol, terá sido atribuído por João Gonçalves Zarco, um dos descobridores da Ilha da Madeira, ao distinguir numa rocha um veio redondo com uns raios que se assemelhavam ao sol. Os locais afirmam que o topónimo advém do facto de se poder ver, no último rochedo a leste da Vila, o nascer e o pôr-do-sol durante todo o ano .
